New Skill: Crochet!

One of the joys of working at the Library is that sometimes I get to participate in some of our programs. Last week I got to be a part of Crocheting with Mike.

Rewind a titch: I sort of knew how to crochet a little. Or rather I knew how to single crochet. I found out I also knew how to half-double crochet, only I thought it was a double crochet and I was doing it completely incorrectly.

Okay, I didn't know at all.

Anyhow, it was a fantastic opportunity to get some of the basic stitches down. I used a Klutz book I had bought earlier and was able to follow along with one of the patterns.

Voila! Une clutch!

I finished the crown on a spring-weight hat last night as a way to practice shaping. The ultimate goal is to learn how to read a pattern well enough to do amigarumi.
